Autumn Wake, RN, BSN, IBCLC
President

Autumn Wake has been helping breastfeeding families since 2015. Previously a nurse for over 12 years, she decided to pursue the specialty of Lactation after the birth of her daughter in 2014. Breastfeeding did not come easy for her, to say the least. After getting help from an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant to overcome what was possibly the hardest obstacle in her life- breastfeeding, she found her calling in life. Immediately she pursued her Certification as a Lactation Education Counselor from the University of California San Diego- she knew that would not be the end of her journey to help women breastfeed their babies. In 2016 she passed her boards to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. She opened her first business in 2017 A dvanced Breastfeeding Support of Las Vegas- in order to help families with breastfeeding challenges in their homes. Autumn joined the Southern Nevada Breastfeeding Coalition in 2015 and has been active and passionate about helping the community increase breastfeeding rates ever since. She has been an active board member since 2016 and with her team, she has taken the Coalition to achieve some pretty amazing goals. Dedicated to increasing breastfeeding rates in low socioeconomic individuals in our community, Autumn plans to work diligently with the coalition and the Las Vegas Community to overcome barriers in the coming year as 2018 President for the second year.

She is currently a student lactation consultant in the UCSD pathway 2 program with an anticipated finish date from the program of June 2018. Laura has been a member of the Southern Nevada Breastfeeding Coalition for nearly two years. This has been not only a place that has helped her professional growth, but also allowed her to help colleagues, community members, as well as businesses here in the Valley. Alura Hirsch, ALC
Member at Large

Alura Hirsch is a Las Vegas native. She is a mother of two beautiful daughters, both of whom she breastfed for over a year. Her love for breastfeeding started when her niece was born 18 years ago. Her sister was her role model and breastfed both of her children. Alura went on to attend many years of college studying biology, and it was there that she attained her passion for science. After having two children she wanted to join her two passions, breastfeeding and biology. That path led her down to become a Lactation Consultant. She started her training through Breastfeeding USA where she became a counselor in March 2017, following that she became a Certified Lactation Counselor through healthy Children in April 2017. She did not want to stop there and she continued her education and took the Healthy Children’s course to become an Advanced lactation Consultant in June 2017. Passing the exams was just the first step into her Lactation Journey. Finishing out 2017 she is now TOTS (tethered oral tissues) Certified, and she has taken the Cranial Nerve Dysfunction in the Pre-crawling infant course which is certifying her as a TummyTime Method Therapist. In 2018 she has more courses to help round out her knowledge including a CST course and a Birth Story Listening course. She recently has partnered with a local dentist, Dr. Tara, and together they help babies who have lip and tongue ties. Through all of her training she realized that there was a lack of support in the Las Vegas Valley. She started searching for how she could make a difference in her community. This search landed her in the Breastfeeding Coalition meetings. She was impressed with the way the coalition was making a difference in her community and decided she wanted to do more and was elected onto the board as the Member at Large. This role is very important to her and helps her attain her number one goal of helping mothers succeed in meeting their goals in the their breastfeeding journey as well as staying up to date on the newest research for breastfeeding support.
